CHILDREN'S PROGRAMS

SUNDAY SCHOOL

Godly Play During 11am Service:

St. Stephen values children’s attendance of regular worship. During the 11:00 worship service, children aged pre-school to 4th grade are invited to attend Godly Play during the period the sermon is preached.

Children gather during the gospel reading in the “mini” crossing then follow the adult leaders to the education building for a Godly Play Bible lessons.  They return during the middle hymn of the service and continue to participate in prayers, offertory, communion and music.

CHOIRISTERS

The St. Stephen Choristers is a choir for children grades 4–8 that rehearses weekly and follows a training program using the Royal School of Church Music (RSCM) curriculum. This rewarding program not only includes rehearsal of church music and basic music training, it also encourages leadership, achievement, and faith formation.

Rehearsals are held each Wednesday evening during the academic year from 5:00–6:00 pm in the Choral Rehearsal Room (upper level of the Education Building).

If you’re interested in registering your child for choristers, email Organist & Director of Music Ministries Jordan Smith:

HOLIDAY SERVICES

Throughout the year, St. Stephen focuses on providing special holy worship services for children and families to help them understand the liturgical importance of Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday, and birth of Christ on Christmas Eve. It is our hope that children will learn to grasp the meaning of penitence, communion used in the Last Supper and birth of the messiah at these events.

CHRISTMAS EVE

Christmas Eve at 5:00 p.m. is our annual children and family service. The Children’s Choir sings and all children are invited to be a part of the nativity play in costume during the service.  “Silent Night” is sung in candlelight at the end. Hot Chocolate and cookies are offered after the worship service.

CHILDREN'S CHOIR

The Children’s Choir is for children Pre-K–3rd grade. This choir is led by our talented Director of Christian Education, Beth Fultz, who has extensive experience working with children and music. Songs learned by rote along with fun and games can be expected in this choir. The Children’s Choir sings once a month during worship.

Rehearsals are held each Wednesday evening during the academic year from 5:00–5:45 pm in the Children’s Choir Room (upper level of the Education Building).
