We welcome Owen Reid as service organist for Choral Evensong this Sunday

Owen Phillip Reid, born and raised in western Oklahoma, is a candidate for the Master of Music degree at Southern Methodist University where he studies organ performance in the studio of Professor Stefan Engels. In Dallas, Owen serves as organ scholar at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church where he assists with service playing, choral accompanying and directing the parish’s many choirs under Director of Music Jonathan Ryan.

He recently finished the Master of Music degree from Cambridge University (St. John’s College) where he worked with many of the finest English choral conductors. In Cambridge, he served as graduate organ scholar of St. Catharine’s College, working with the mixed-voice college choir as well as the St. Catharine’s girls choir – the first school-aged girls choir in Cambridge – under Director of Music Dr. Edward Wickham.

Owen received the Bachelor of Music and Musical-Arts degree from the Eastman School of Music in Rochester, New York where he studied in the organ studio of Nathan Laube as well as harpsichord and improvisation with Edoardo Bellotti. During his time at Eastman, he served as assistant organist at Sacred Heart Cathedral (RC) in Rochester.

Owen has many hobbies including playing jazz music, accompanying, singing, playing tennis, traveling, exploring local breweries and wishing he could cook while enjoying other’s cooking.
