Searchers’ Class Series: Cry of Justice, Palestine
4 Weeks: Oct 13 – Nov 3
This class will consider recent developments in Palestine and Israel and the larger historical context in which they have occurred.
Some popular myths will be debunked, personal stories will be shared, and the response of the church will be considered.
The first week (Oct 13th) will feature Rev. Craig Hunter, Pastor of Trinity Presbyterian Church in Denton, who served as a PC(USA) Young Adult Volunteer (YAV) in Bethlehem in 1999-2000 and who traveled to Palestine/Israel most recently in February as part of a delegation sponsored by Palestinian Christians.
October 20th will feature Dr. Mohammed Khaleel and other North Texas physicians who have traveled to Gaza before and during the recent conflict, and who will share their powerful stories of working in a time of war.
October 27th will feature Laila K and other Palestinian-Americans as they share the stories of their background and of their perspective on recent events.
Our final speaker on Nov. 3 is William Josef, co-founder of Jewish Voice for Peace – DFW Chapter.
This is a critical subject in which Americans and Christians are already involved. The Presbyterian General Assembly recently re-affirmed the need for Presbyterians to learn more. Come, learn, and join in the conversation.
