On our 130th Anniversary, we recall SSPC was born as a mission effort on the far south side of Fort Worth and has a long history of reaching out to our own and other urban communities. In keeping with that spirit, 13 SSPC members will travel to San Antonio the weekend before Thanksgiving, November 21-25, as SSPC’s 2014 Adult Mission, to work with our sister church on the near west side, Divine Redeemer Presbyterian Church PC (USA). We’ll partner with neighborhood youth, Young Adult Volunteers (YAV) and local agencies to repair and paint the interior, stain a deck and do some landscaping work on the community house used to support a variety of programs the church and community sponsor, including the Multi-Level Educational Youth (MEYO) House of Teens after school program for 6-12th graders in the neighborhood. The SSPC team will join Divine Redeemer for worship and share a potluck lunch with the local Scout Troop while there. We hope to lend a hand, learn some things we can bring back to Fort Worth, and make new friends. There’s still time to join us-call Richard Parr, Missions Committee chairperson, on 214-695-8443 if interested.
