Kirkin’ o’ the Tartans

October 20 @ 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM

St. Stephen Presbyterian Church’s celebrated Kirkin’ of the Tartan Service takes place on Sunday, Oct. 20 at 11 a.m. The Kirkin’ of the Tartan recognizes the Presbyterian Church’s Scottish heritage. The ceremony includes a procession and blessing of the tartans, the patterned wool commonly associated with the traditional Scottish kilt, as well as local bagpipers.

The ceremony represents the coming together of warring Scottish clans under the auspices of the church, or “kirk.” Following the service will be the annual Kirkin’ Luncheon. For those with a strong stomach, the traditional Scottish dish, known as Haggis will be served, and for those less adventurous, there will be other options as well.

St. Stephen Presbyterian Church is a congregation of the Presbyterian Church (USA) that has served Fort Worth since 1884. It is known for its “high church” style worship and its service to the local community. St. Stephen is an intentionally inclusive community; we welcome all who seek to know God through Jesus Christ.
